You Have a Voice in Your Breast Cancer Journey
Support. Information. Empowered Decisions.
Facing early-stage breast cancer? You don’t have to navigate it alone.
At the Fannie Lou Hamer Cancer Foundation, we believe that knowledge is power—and that every woman deserves to make informed choices about her health and care.
That’s why we’ve partnered with Dartmouth College with support from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) to offer a free, research-based decision-making resource for individuals recently diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer.
What You’ll Find in This Resource
This helpful guide is designed to support conversations between patients, caregivers, and health professionals around surgical treatment options, including:
Lumpectomy (breast-conserving surgery) with radiation
Mastectomy (removal of the entire breast)
The resource will help you:
✔️ Understand your treatment options
✔️ Make better decisions about your care
✔️ Reflect on what matters most to you
Questions It Helps Answer
What does this treatment involve?
Will the cancer come back?
How long will I live?
What are the side effects?
When can I return to work or family life?
Are the treatment outcomes the same?
You'll also find guidance on additional considerations like mental health, financial help, support groups, and more.
